Faults and Repairs

Poor maintenance can show itself in any number of ways but here is a common list of issues if you fail to routinely replace parts as required.

  • Alarm Sounds outside when I have a powercut?

This is due to a failure of the Main back up battery, These require routine replacement at a maximum interval of 5 years. When the mains fails this battery is supposed to keep the alarm fully functional and protecting property for a minimum of 12 hours, although rechargeable they are similar technology to a car battery and will lose bak up capacity over time and can fail internally or lose the capability to hold a charge. Occasionally a faulty battery can lead to damage of the system if it overloads the system or leaks. Your system may indicate a battery fault, our systems will display Battery Fault 100 if the battery is unable to be detected by the system but a battery will have already been in need of replacement long before this is displayed.

  • False alarms

In addition to poor maintenance and a faulty battery false alarms can be from faulty equipment yet often it is something environmental, Helium Balloons in the view of a sensor, Pets in areas where the system hasnt been configured for them. Automated appliances like air freshener sprays if close to a movement detector, robotic vacuum cleaners, and of course where a movement sensor is being in contact with insects or spiders.

  • System beeps when I open a front door when not armed or being armed

This is usually the inadvertant enablement of the sytems chime feature, refer to your systems user guide to switch on and off the chime feature as required.

  • Comm or Wifi Fault

This is due to the interruption of the alarms internet network connection to your router, this will occur if the router loses mains power however the alarm usually will reconnect once power has restored. If the router is replaced the alarm will need the new log in details of a new routers wifi network,
